Flying Feet

Hire an arty “Dutch” bike from Flying Feet to explore the lovely town of Montagu, or book a guided tour of our town (walking, hiking or cycling).

Protea Farm

The Protea Farm offers scenic tractor rides to the top of the mountain as well as delicious South African food. Please book in advance.

Three historical buildings in central Montagu showcasing the history and art of this interesting area.

Eseltjiesrus Donkey Sanctuary

Entrance is free, but do support the donkeys with your donations, or buy a book at their store – all proceeds go to supporting the sanctuary.

Montagu Nature Garden

These beautiful natural gardens set in a nature reserve offer a 1.7km circular walk.

Enjoy the latest Art Exhibition in the KWV Gallery. A variety of local pieces are available at this historical venue.

Joubert House & Herb Garden

For a day of history and heritage. This house is a National Monument, built in 1853 and features an indigenous herb garden with medicinal herbs used by the Koisan. Entrance is free (donations welcome).

Ibis Gallery

Ibis is a small and informal gallery owned by Carolyn Metcalfe and Hennie Kok, used as an exhibition space for their own work where they can sell at reasonable prices and engage directly with the public.

Hicks Art Gallery

Richard & Joy Hickman have turned their home into a fine art gallery, which is open seven days a week from 9am to 6pm. Various artists’ works are on display, including a selection of Richard’s own work.

Kupenda Art Gallery

Mitchell's Pub & Grill

Mitchell's Pub & Grill is a cosy Pub, with a Restaurant that offers excellent value for money meals. Breakfast, lunch and dinner. Kitchen is open from 9am until 2pm, and again from 5pm until 9pm.

This inviting and relaxed family restaurant serves local traditional meals as well as favourites such as burgers, Portuguese and other European dishes.

The Barn on 62

Open Tuesdays to Sundays. They offer light, homegrown and contemporary breakfasts and lunches as well as a small bar with a selection of beer and wine. Closes at 4pm.

This charming restaurant offers all day breakfast and delicious meals alongside the farm stall’s collection of locally made crafts, snacks and supplies.
